Speaking of strange and awkward...I posted a picture of these cookies on Instagram this morning as I was photographing them and then thought, "hmmm...have I just totally embarrassed kiddo and his classmates who follow my Instagram feed?" Probably.
Oh well. Once you get over the awkwardness, these are just the perfect cookies for any lingerie wedding shower, bachelorette party, honeymoon shower, etc.
Your options are really limitless with the bra/panty sets. (I'm sorry to those of you who hate the word "panty"..."underwear" just doesn't cut it when speaking of lingerie.) ;) Take a peek at the Victoria's Secret website and you'll want to be making these all day. (You'll also want to send those models a few cookies.)
You don't need a special cookie cutter for these. Just use a heart-shaped cutter, flip it upside-down, and cut off the pointed end with a bench scraper or paring knife.
The corset cutter comes from Copper Gifts...
...as does the little marabou slipper cutter. I'm of the opinion that no honeymoon should be without marabou heels...they are the sweetest things.
I loved mine so much. Until we got back from our honeymoon and they started shedding, leaving feathers all over our closet. Ah, romance.
To make these lingerie shower cookies, you'll need:
- cut-out cookies, modified hearts, corset, and slippers
- royal icing, divided and tinted with AmeriColor super black, copper (or warm brown for darker skin tones), electric pink, light pink, and white
- icing bags and tips: #2, #1
- squeeze bottles
- sugar pearls
- tweezers (for applying pearls)
- white sparkling sugar
To thin icing, stir in water a little at a time, until it is the consistency of a thick syrup. When you drop a ribbon of icing back into the bowl, it should disappear back into the icing in a count of one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two. One-thousand-three is ok, four is too thick.
Cover the icing with a damp dishtowel for a few minutes to let large air bubbles rise to the surface. Stir gently, then transfer to squeeze bottles.
For the bra & panty sets:
You'll want to start by covering the entire cookie with a base of skin-tone icing. For lighter shades, use copper; for darker shades, use warm brown. Once the base layer has set for an hour or more, you can start with the rest of the decorating.
For the corsets...
Last but not least, the marabou slippers...
Ooo-la-la! ♥
